Canvas is the online learning platform used by Wichita Public Schools for students in grades 6–12. Families can use Canvas to view assignments, course materials, announcements, due dates, and other classroom resources.
Important: Official grades and attendance are available in ParentVUE, not Canvas.
Most Families: Your Account Is Already Created
Wichita Public Schools has already created Canvas parent accounts for most parents and guardians of currently enrolled students.
To get started:
- Download the Canvas Parent App from the Apple App Store or Google Play.
- Open the app and select Find School.
- Search for Wichita.
- Select Wichita Public Schools/USD259 – parents/guardians.
- Select Forgot Password.
- Enter the parent/guardian email address on file with the school.
- Check your email and follow the link to create a new password.
- Return to Canvas Parent and sign in.
Not sure which email address is on file? Contact your child's school.
Need to Create or Connect an Account?
If your Canvas parent account was not already created, or you need to connect another student, use a pairing code.
Student: Create a Pairing Code
- Sign in to Canvas through the WPS Portal.
- Go to Account → Settings.
- Select Pair with Observer.
- Share the code with your parent or guardian.
Parent/Guardian: Connect to Canvas

Open the Canvas Parent App or Canvas Parent website.
- Find Wichita Public Schools/USD259 – parents/guardians.
- Sign in or create an account.
- Enter the student’s pairing code.
To add another student later, generate a new pairing code and add it from your parent account.
